IMPORTANT BOOKS for CDS

While preparing for any exam there is a lot of confusion that how to study and from where to study. In market (or online) there is a lot of options for this but we can't make our mind. But don't worry I will solve your this problem.

 Hello Guys, My self Shubham in this blog I will tell you that which books you can use for covering the whole syllabus of CDSE. I have thoroughly covered the whole syllabus in on my others blogs. You can check it over here How to prepare for CDSE. 

Now coming towards the books you need to study for your CDSE preparation, I will tell you some basics books that will not only cover your whole syllabus but also make you confident about clearing the exam.

Pathfinder is the most important and must book for CDSE apart from this book other books are following.

English-

For covering the syllabus of English grammar, I suggest you to read WREN AND MARTIN English grammar. It will cover your basics of grammar. After reading it 2 to 3 times, you will be expert in grammar portion. For your reading and comprehension skills portion pathfinder is more than sufficient. Just go with previous year question given in the book. For vocabulary portion I don't suggest you any book rather learn 5 to 10 words and idioms and phrases (especially from the previous year paper of SSC CGL.

General awareness-

For G.A ,which is a vast portion to cover, I divide the books according to the subjects.

CURRENT AFFAIRS (C.A)- I personally don't recommend any dedicated book for C.A. Just go through daily C.A classes on YouTube or read newspaper daily(Optional, lecture will be enough). 6 to 7 months C.A news will be asked so go through 7 months old C.A. Note down recent appointments by government. Daily C.A will also let you remind state capitals, C.M. and Governers. Even you will learn about capitals and currency of other countries also.

SCIENCE- Ncerts from 6th to 10th class. Read them 2 to 3 times. Make short and crisp notes for last time revision. Also go through Pathfinder for basics to high practice. Biology is the most important topic in science. So don't dare to skip that. Organic and Inorganic chemistry is also important topic. Newton's law of motion is also important.

POLITY- Read +1 and +2 Polity book. It will make a base for your polity ,in case you are studying it for first time, after that you should read M Laxmikanth Indian Constitution, which will be more than enough for polity section. You don't have to rad the whole book. Read first 25 chapters and Panchayati raj system, and of course go through PYP at last. Note down articles related to C.A. any decision by S.C.

HISTORY- Same for history 6 to 10 Ncerts. In history you have to focus more on modern India, for this you can refer Modern history of India by BIPIN CHANDRA. However it can also be covered frim online YouTube videos lectures. Remember Modern India portion in CDSE is very deeply asked, so you have to conceptually cleared for this.

GEOGRAPHY- Ncerts 6 to 10. Especially read about geography of India about minerals mines and it location, Important peaks of India, Drainage system of India etc. In this case Atlas will play an important role you can easily memorize the geographical location through that. You can also refer geography by G Leong or Majid Hussain, but even NCERTS, ATLAS, YOUTUBE lectures will be more than enough.

ECONOMY- Just read 10 - +2 economics books. It will clear your basics. But just be connected to C.A, any topic in C.A will be get automatically important. Micro/Macro economics is favorite topic of UPSC, just go through it.

Mathematics-

Pathfinder for clearing basics. After that you may refer Objective arithmetic by R.S Aggarwal. Just revise it 2-3 times. Go through previous year paper(PYP). It will be more than enough. 

Remember one thing after covering whole syllabus from said books. Give 15-20 mock tests (including previous year's). This will surely boost your confidence and you will surely crack the exam. GOOD LUCK👍😁.
